Like stumbling drunkenly into Weimar Berlin, the
Desert Blues Cartel transport you to a world of overt aural decadence steeped
in the darkest of blues and gypsy music.
From extensive musical backgrounds varying between post-rock, indie-pop, punk, country and blues, the Desert Blues Cartel form a captivating and compelling post-post-modern musical outfit. Their eccentric mix of Blues, Gypsy, Country, Jazz overlayed with some pop sensibilities seemingly effortlessly form.
Desert Blues Cartel smashed the stage for the first time in 2013 and their music quickly drew comparisons to Tom Waits, The Dirty Three, The Doors, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave & Leonard Cohen.
Desert Blues Cartel thank all that have thrown their support behind the outfit!

"Being at a Desert Blues Cartel event is akin to being in New Orleans imbibing the smooth tunes New Orleans is so well known for." Mouthzoff Magazine
"There's a restless longing
with Desert Blues Cartel... like a drunk wistfully staring at the empty
void of a bourbon bottle. This is raw blues draped in crazed gypsy rock
nailed to the trunk of mangled jazz.
With a hint of Romanian gypsy displacement behind the bluesy, gnarled vocals
of Dick Desert, DBC will transport you to a place where the sky is your
ceiling and the highways your long suffering companion.
Now where's my Maker's Mark?"
Gareth Bryant - Editor of Scene Magazine
"Oozing with swagger and style, Desert Blues Cartel are a quartet you'd be best to acquaint yourself with ... They've been getting some love on local airwaves of late, but their live experience takes it to a whole new level." Time Off Magazine

FIRST SINGLE FROM DESERT BLUES CARTELs
UPCOMING SOPHOMORE EP
The Blues Will Not Save You!
SINGLE RELEASED - FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2016
On Friday 16th September 2016 Australias dirtiest nouveau blues band, Desert Blues Cartel, released their first single Long Gone from their upcoming sophomore EP The Blues Will Not Save You!. Long Gone is a swampy blues number continuing the bands forays into both the darker and rockier extremities of the blues genre.
From the opening wailing harmonica, this track has the potential to disturb and unsettle the listener while simultaneously embracing them comfortably in their own history of personal tragedy. The track winds its way in and out from a brash big groove to a quieter lament that resets itself aggressively at the end of each chorus to slam the listener with the blues machine aggressively driving it.
Long Gone was recorded at Scarlett Owl Studios near Samford (Brisbane) by engineer Shaun Richardson who also mixed the rest of the upcoming EP with the support of Ed Gresack, Desert Blues Cartels bass player. The track and the rest of the upcoming EP were mastered by Neil Coombe from Whiteroom Studios.
Desert Blues Cartel are open to all interview requests and will attempt to satisfy all offers.
